Official Ruling, Docket 3-11

Last place forfeits the rights. The league decides who holds them.

Under league bylaws, the final-place finisher forfeits all rights to himself for the following season. The Registry of Celestial Mining records the transfer on one framed certificate: the loser goes on the Subject of Authorized Operations line. The Authorized Rights Holder line is yours to fill. Exclusive. Perpetual. Framed.

Brad went 3-11. He started a kicker on a bye week in the semifinal and described it as a process decision. The Authority has reviewed the process. The Authority has issued the certificate.

It hangs in his home for one full season. It can be reissued to next year's loser. Most leagues report that the first one never comes down.

Who holds the rights

The subject line is not negotiable. The holder line is where the league gets creative.

Three filings the Registry sees most. All three print on the same certificate.

The League

The League

Authorized Rights Holder: Pulp Friction Fantasy League. The whole group chat owns him. Hangs above the draft board until someone worse comes along.

The Champion

The Champion

Authorized Rights Holder: whoever won. Head to head, personal, delivered at the door. His wife had questions. She has stopped asking.

The Commissioner

The Commissioner

Authorized Rights Holder: the Commissioner, in his official capacity. Take a number. He will stamp it when he gets to it.

Procedure

How the paperwork gets filed

01

Identify the subject

Wait for the standings to settle. The Registry recommends the Monday after the championship, once the loser has run out of excuses.

02

File the names

Enter the league, the champion, or the Commissioner as Authorized Rights Holder and the loser as Subject of Authorized Operations. Pick his frame. The certificate fills in before you pay.

03

Present it in public

Framed and shipped in 1 to 2 weeks. Deliver at the draft, the banquet, or his front door. Film the reading. The Authority does not require a speech. It has never objected to one.

Bylaws

League bylaws, as adopted by the Authority

  1. The subject may not decline. Last place is a finding, not a nomination.
  2. The certificate hangs in a common area for one season. Garages count. Guest bathrooms count double.
  3. Appeals go to the Commissioner, who is the Authorized Rights Holder, who has already ruled.
  4. Ties are broken by points against. If that fails, by whoever started the bye-week kicker.
  5. Next season's loser gets a fresh certificate. The old one is not returned. The Registry keeps no records and wants none.

Other filings

File the paperwork before the draft.

One certificate, personalized with the Commissioner and the loser, framed and shipped ready to hang. Group chat screenshots are not included. They have also never once failed to happen.
